Test Spot combines printmaking, experimentation, documentation, collaboration, and visual display. The project revolves around interacting with a wide range of materials through screen printing technologies. Testing materials are received through personal procurement and through exchange, trade, and barter. Participants receive a set of prints created with their material as well as pertinent printing information. This interaction allows me to collaborate with, and contribute to, a larger community of artists, makers, and crafters while exploring alternative economic systems. It also exposes me to materials I may not consider otherwise. For this project I am creating a personal, yet functional, taxonomy and set of testing parameters for exploring materiality and screen printing. The documentation is then disseminated through open source digital media and public exhibitions. Workshops, gatherings, demonstrations, and other modes of public involvement will continue to be added.
